Integrating consciousness into science & philosophy
The SPi aims to integrate the studies of consciousness, matter, life and the universe within a science-consistent philosophical model. We want to offer a comprehensive explanation of our existence, and we draw many insights from the Vedanta school of philosophy. Our model resolves many current quandaries and incongruities within both science and philosophy, by postulating that consciousness is an irreducible feature of the primary state of reality. Although not a revolutionary idea in itself, the model offers details into a mechanism by which non-physical consciousness interacts with our brains and the world. And, it offers clear justification and empirical evidence to support such a hypothesis.
We do not question reputable scientific data and evidence. But, we do query the poor logic and interpretation that is often given to such evidence in the name of science. Instead, our model applies sound logic to accepted scientific data to build its thesis. It demonstrates its ability to be consistent with empirical evidence across many fields of study. It reveals new insights into anomalous phenomena, suggests predictions for further study and experimentation; and offers incredible scope for utility in physics, biology, neuroscience, psychology etc.
Although the core postulation involving consciousness is beyond the scientific method (as all theories of consciousness necessarily are), the model that is produced from the postulation is both philosophically sound and science-consistent.
And, perhaps just as importantly, it provides society with a model of reality and our existence that supports our innate sense of self, free will, and the intuitive values we place on higher human qualities such as compassion, love and purpose.
The answers to these questions are not beyond our reach. Indeed, open discussion & analysis of them may open new approaches, new techniques, new solutions – perhaps, even, new science. The S-Pi welcomes open research, study and debate on these matters.
